# Data Retention & Deletion

Last updated: 2026-03-12

This notice explains how Syzygy handles data retention and account deletion for Syzygy.

## Where to request deletion

- In-app: account or settings surfaces include an account-deletion entry point.
- Web: https://www.syzygysync.com/account/delete/

The deletion entry point is intended to let you request deletion of the account and account-linked personal data, not merely disable, freeze, or hide the account. If a platform requires both in-app and web deletion request paths, both paths should point to the same underlying deletion workflow.

## Verification and confirmation

Account deletion is permanent for the account records that are deleted. We may require authentication, reauthentication, email confirmation, device confirmation, or other ownership verification before processing the request. These steps are used to prevent accidental deletion, malicious requests, or deletion by someone who is not the account holder.

If deletion is manual or takes time to complete, we will provide a reasonable confirmation path and, where practical, notify you when the request has been completed or when additional information is required.

## What happens when you request deletion

After we verify that the request belongs to the account holder, we delete or irreversibly de-identify the account profile, entitlement state, trusted-device records, and service-side sync metadata linked to that account unless retention is legally required.

Where applicable, we also instruct service providers that process data on our behalf to delete corresponding account-linked data from their active systems.

Deletion may disable sign-in, trusted sync, paid entitlement checks, device pairing, support history linked to the account, and access to activation-code or purchase records that depend on the deleted account. You should export or save anything you need before submitting the request.

## What we may retain

Some information may be retained for a limited period where required for:

- security monitoring, abuse prevention, or fraud investigations;
- accounting, tax, audit, refund, or chargeback obligations;
- dispute resolution, legal claims, regulatory compliance, or lawful requests;
- transaction completion, entitlement reconciliation, provider refund or chargeback review, and tax or accounting records;
- backup integrity and disaster-recovery rotation cycles.

Where continued retention is required, we limit the retained data to the minimum reasonably necessary for that purpose.

## What is not removed automatically from your devices

- Local clipboard history, cached previews, downloaded files, or exported content stored on your devices are not automatically removed from every device unless the app explicitly performs that action.
- You may need to clear local history, reset the app, revoke trusted devices, or uninstall the app manually on each device you used.
- Content previously exported or shared to external apps or services is controlled by those destinations, not by Syzygy.
- Data stored in your own cloud storage, operating-system backup, browser cache, third-party app, email client, file system, or external archive is controlled by that destination and may need to be deleted separately.

## Timing and confirmation

- We begin processing deletion requests after authentication or ownership verification.
- We complete deletion within a reasonable period, subject to technical and legal constraints.
- If continued retention is required, we restrict use of the retained data to the applicable retention purpose.
- Backup deletion may follow backup rotation schedules. During that time, backup copies are isolated from ordinary production use unless recovery is required.

## Subscription and billing reminders

- If your plan was purchased directly from us or activated through a license flow, account deletion does not automatically waive outstanding fees or reverse completed charges unless required by law or a separate refund policy applies.
- If you have an active subscription, pending order, refund request, chargeback, invoice, or tax record, deletion may not cancel, refund, or erase those records automatically. Use the applicable billing, cancellation, refund, or payment-provider process.

## Recreating an account

After deletion, you may need to create a new account to use account-based features again. Previously deleted trust relationships, activation records, sync state, and entitlement associations may not be recoverable.
